To improve your game, focus on playing tight and only playing strong starting hands like high pairs, consecutive cards or suited aces. This will prevent you from spending too much money trying to force a weak hand to fold. When you do have a good hand, raise to extract value from your opponents and keep the pot size at a reasonable level. This is known as making a “value bet.” If you don’t have a good hand, fold. Eventually, you will become more proficient at bluffing and can use it to your advantage as well.
