Washing machine – I tried hand washing things when my machine was waiting for a replacement part, and no matter how hard I tried I just could not get my clothes properly clean. It makes life so much easier, not just the washing itself but how little water is still within the clothes so they can go straight on the line.

My dishwasher. Before I had one I thought I didn’t need one and it was lazy. But now it saves so much time, gets dirty pots etc out of the way, and great for all the washing up from baking and cooking meals from scratch eg lasagne. Just wished I’d had one when the kids were younger, cos Christmas especially is a time when you could do with one. Christmas day is so tiring
