This is a loose interpretation of Tara’s Gallery this week. Mainly because it’s not a photo … it’s a video …

The theme this week is ‘Men’.

In the absence of any Simon Cowell styleee judges to call me out, tut, wave their finger in my face and question the rules I give you the one man in my life who keeps me on my toes 24/7.

He has no fear … just like, the other man in my life, his father.

Pain and an unexpected pleasure …

On Monday the Stunt Boy struck again. He fell off a section of the adventure playground at the 5 year old’s school. He hit his ribs on a circular piece of wood and landed on the floor. Winded and clearly in agony I wondered if I should take him to the hospital.

Once home the crying subsided, he ate some chocolate and went off to play on the trampoline. This confirmed that he hadn’t broken anything and I didn’t have to spend 4 hours waiting in A&E whilst he jumped off the furniture.

Later he wanted to watch TV and got snuggled up on the sofa with Lulu.

I sat next to him and he put his feet on my lap. I gave his feet a tickle and he said …

“Hit my feet like Grandpa does”

So I patted his feet gently.

“NO! Harder like Grandpa does and on the bottom” he demanded.

So I slapped the soles of his feet as he relaxed and watched Mister Maker.

My youngest child is 2 and a half. He has stumbled through his life from one accident to the next, usually involving his head or knees and a hard surface. Surprisingly, I have only been to A&E twice. On the last occasion he appeared to me gushing blood from his mouth like a fountain. Unable to prise his mouth open (even with the bribe of chocolate buttons) and after a brief discussion with his 4 year old sister we established that he had scootered down the steps in the back garden and collided with the concrete.

After two hours in the children’s waiting room of A&E he regained his composure and began his crusade. He fell in a toy box, jumped off the seats, demanded several boxes of raisins and casually flirted with a 3 year old girl with an foot injury.

When we eventually saw the nurse he confirmed in 40 seconds what I already knew … 2 spoonfuls of Calpol, a good nights sleep and Stunt Boy would be just fine.
