Review – OXO Candela Double Tooli Night Light

Written by on August 12, 2010 in Product Reviews, REVIEWS - 3 Comments

My children have always had a nightlight in their room. We have been using IKEA’s little SPÖKA lights for years.  However, we have been through a few of these lights due to them failing after a year or so. I think we’ve had 6 in total.

So, on the day that we received the Tooli nightlights it seemed fate stepped in and our IKEA light glowed for it’s final night before giving in and failing to work. RIP little SPÖKA. … and make way for the new OXO Candela Tooli nightlight …

We were sent a pair of green/blue Tooli nightlights. Not only are they stylish but they glow for 8 hours after a full charge, that’s a whole 3-4 hours more than we’re used to. They give off the right amount of light for me to sneak into the children’s bedrooms for a kiss without tripping over a rogue fire engine or doll’s tea party.

Each morning the children bring their nightlight downstairs and bob them on the charger, so that I can admire them during the day, then at night, with a full charge they carry their nightlight upstairs like Wee Willie Winkie.

The lights illuminate as soon as they are lifted from the charger unit or the power goes off. Handy in a power cut. There are no exposed electrical components so they are safe for litte fingers.

All in all a great nightlight for little ones. Bright, funky and stylish … and I like it too, in fact I’m very fond of them, ahem. They currently retail at £40-50 (for a pair) which is a little steep for a Yorkshire lass like myself. But, we have spent over and above that for the cheaper IKEA nightlights over the past five years.

Oh, and if OXO ever make a wind up version for camping … I’ll be your first customer!

Available at Mamas & Papas online and Amazon. For details, please call OXO on 0114 290 1455.

A little later on in the year OXO is planning to launch a range of tools for little ones, called TOT.  They will be expanding to all manner of feeding equipment and toys for the bath and nursery.

These are most beautiful, Wife. However, our Mr Spoka has lasted for years and I can’t bear to think of parting with him. Why am I so sentimental?

And English Mum? I am surprised at you lowering the tone…

They look so cute! Although I have to say that they bear more than a little resemblance to another erm… rabbit-shaped item.

I have nightlight envy! We have Spoka too and they’re working fine for now – but they are no longer enough. Now I want numerous OXO lights – you are evil woman, EVIL I tell you! xx
