Review – Lego Pig Farm & Tractor

Written by on March 15, 2010 in REVIEWS, Toy Reviews - 10 Comments

When I was a child I had THE biggest Lego collection in our street.  Over the years I collected an airport, a police station, houses, cars.  I had boards with a whole road systems on and lots of little people with mix and match hair. I played with my Lego for hours.

When I was a teenager I gave away my collection … I could kick myself now.

I was sent a box of Lego from the City range to review.  It’s set number 7684, for some reason they don’t have names, just numbers.  It’s a pig farm and tractor set.

It’s for ages 5-12, but the 5 year old was too busy vegetating, in the after school zone of tiredness, to show any interest.  The 4 year old was excited when he saw the set, but, not as excited as me.

Armed with a cup of tea, a couple of biscuits (me), chicken pox and a cup of Ribena (him) we began.

Each part (pig pen, tractor, trailer) was in it’s own bag.  There were 3 bags and two sets of instructions which were really easy to follow.

The 4 year old was eager to join in and with my guidance he managed to put most of the pig pen part together.  Some of the bits were very fiddly especially for little fingers, more so for my sausage fingers. I imagine fingers aged 5-12 would be perfect!

By the time we got to building the tractor and trailer the 4 year old had given up and instead decided to think of names for the four pigs … Charlie, Sam, George and Thomas.  I was left to build the tractor and trailer.  I was in my element.

I was left with 5 or 6 pieces when I’d finished, I’m hoping these are just spares and not an integral part to the tractors undercarriage!

I still love Lego and I’m going to start adding to our collection now.  I’ve seen a nice 4×4 with a horse trailer (7635, if you must know) and a very nice fire engine set.

It was a hit with the kids once built and as they get older I’m sure they’ll show more interest in the construction process. If they don’t I will once again be the person with the biggest Lego collection in our street!

We practically live in a Lego house. Castles, Star Wars, tractors; so much of it, and usually under my bare feet first thing in the morning. And strangely, they are putting up a block of flats near us and I swear the bricks are made of Lego!

I saw an article recently where someone is going round a town filling in patches in buildings with Lego! I kid you not

Nothing like kneeling on a small piece of Lego to make you love it more eh?

Being wife and mother to two of the biggest lego addicts ever, I’d love to know how you managed to get involved with this one.
