In the blink of an eye

Dear Boo Boo

It seems such a long time ago that I held you for the first time.  Six long years ago today. At the same time it seems to have flown by, six of the fastest years of my life.

One minute you were a baby … then I blinked … and you grew up; Long gangly legs, sensitive, opinionated and effortlessly clever with a wicked sense of humour.

The last year has been hard, for one reason or another, but as you turn 6 you are coming out the other side unscathed.

Your best friend’s Dad recently remarked that if you were to leave home when you are 18 that you are a third of your way through your time at home. I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.  I’ll opt for laughter please.

You are everything and more than I could have ever wished for … my big-little girl.

All my love

A very proud Mummy xxx

Stop it..sniff..sniff…my ‘big boy’ will be 5 in September, just when he starts school. I’m currently a wreck of pride and regret, regret for all the times I’ve wished the bitter sweet early years away. All in a blink they are over, leaving me and his 3 year old brother in their wake…puzzled and alone.

A gorgeous post, love Daddy’s comment too, nearly crying trying to read it out to my hubby! Hope you all had a lovely day.

Don’t worry wifey, she’s staying attached to my apron strings until at least her 25th birthday – so we’ve got the best part of 2 decades yet…

My boo is so special; I never want to lose that sneaky midnight trip into her bedroom to watch her sleeping. The world is truly enhanced by her prescence.

Happy Birthday Boo Boo (sorry one day late) I couldn’t resist telling you that this photo has got something so lovely about it, apart from the gorgeous girl on it.
Such a scary thought when you realise the years that go by and how quickly it goes.

PS just a quick note, they have muddled up your details between you and little mummy on the gurgle nominations

Surely you’ve not old enough to have a 6 year old?
She is so like you Laura – I’m sure in more than just looks.
Happy birthday gorgeous 6 year old x

You made me cry. What a gorgeous post. I hope she reads it when she’s older and can really feel the love behind the words, like I can. x

Will never forget that coffee morning in Salts when you complained of tummy pains and then we heard the news later. Crying a bit here – Boo is six. Lovely, lovely post. xxx
