Today we said goodbye to our old lady. Our professional sleeper, crotch sniffer, wearer of human head gear, elbow nudger, puppy teacher, sharer of beds, liker of head rubs and bestest of friends.
We were told by the vet last week that it was time to say goodbye to Peanut. She had numerous things wrong with her and it was unfair, at this point, to delay the inevitable. We took her home and gave her a fabulous last weekend. A great long walk with friends, where she was spoilt rotten. An evening in front of the fire, lots of head rubs and some apples to munch on.
She went today, quietly and with dignity, with us stroking her until the end as our big fat tears plopped next to her.
Peanut was part of our life for so long that it’s going to be very strange without her.
May doggie heaven be filled with parks full of smells and many dog bottoms to sniff. Godspeed, Old Lady xxx
