We were asked to review a family meal at Pizza Express a few weeks ago. It was a couple of nights before our holiday, when I was trying to run down things in the fridge, so it couldn’t have come at a better time.
I have visited Pizza Express both with the children and without before and had positive experiences.
We visited our local Pizza Express on a Tuesday night. Once seated the children got a fold out activity sheet and crayons which helped to pass the time between courses although we also spent a lot of time chatting about our impending holiday!
The service was, mainly, good and the staff really friendly. There was a lull between our main and dessert where no one came to take our order. When I mentioned that we were still waiting to order our desserts the manager immediately got someone to take our order.
Foodwise there is a good selection of pizza, pasta and salads. The children’s menu is really good value for money. A starter, a main, pudding, unlimited juice and a Bambinoccino is £6.95. The portion sizes are just right, not overwhelming.
I like the hustle and bustle in Pizza Express. It’s always nice and busy and has a really relaxed atmosphere. When I’m out with my children, eating, it’s really important that we all enjoy the experience and don’t feel uncomfortable.
I would heartily recommend Pizza Express for family meals out … and I think he would too.

I take it that you didn’t go back to the one we all last went to which was AWFUL! Hair in food, cold food, burnt food, the longest wait ever, the kids waited even longer. However I too have been to other Pizza Express and found the service most satisfactory and the food was good too.
I ate at a Pizza Express on The Strand a few years back. Coming from the pizza capital of the world (Chicago), I can say, “Not bad.”
Our kids love the bambinocino that is the absolute highlight of our “once in a blue moon” visits to Pizza Express. They had a clever offer on this last week of 2 for the prize of one main, and you think bargain, but the reality is, it does not knock that much off the overall bill, so perception wise a great offer, but reality not so much…
Nevertheless it was for Joberus’ 21st birthday, so we had to push the boat out. We went to the one in Windsor, and our experience was similar, lots of hustle and bustle, but then an absolute lull between main and dessert, where all staff disappeared… We waited an age, and being a school night, I did get rather twitchy… We eventually got home at 1030pm! very late for the 8 yo, 10yo and 13yo.
Still it’s not every day your step son turns 21. My hubbie must be feeling really old now… To have a 21 year old son x
