Creatures : Sing For Your Supper

Written by on June 23, 2010 in BLOG - 8 Comments

Tara’s theme for The Gallery this week is Creatures.  During my blogger trip to Seaworld in Florida I met a whole host of creatures.

I think these guys were my favourite though.  The sea lions.  They glide effortlessly and gracefully through the water.  The male sea lions make quite a racket as they swim round showing the ladies who’s boss.  The deep ARF ARF ARF rings out. When it’s time for feeding the female sealions wave to get your attention, they also make a lot of noise, but not half as much as the boys.

We were very lucky in that we got to feed them.  If I closed my eyes as I put my hand in the bucket of dead, cold, slimy fish I was fine … unlike Erica who was retching.

At one point we had to distract the younger, more lively ones so that we could feed the older, and in some cases, blind sea lions.

If you’re new here and want to know what the Gallery is, go and read here, and then come right back and join in!

I love a woman who can handle a stinking fish with aplomb! The sea lions are lovely aren’t they? We saw some at the National Seal Sanctuary in Cornwall last year – along with little and large blind seals. It was a fascinating place…

Not quite as exciting as Seaworld though :)

I’ve never actually seen Sea Lions in the flesh, but I’d really like to. They are such cute and delightful creatures though.

When I started reading I thought you were going to end up with a picture of the other blogger creatures! I’m with Erica on this one, stinking fish is the most revolting thing out there.
