During our walk to school on Friday I thought I was going slightly mad. I kept hearing strange beeping noises. The 5 year old kept saying that she couldn’t hear anything and, well, the 4 year old is deaf again.
For some reason I believed my 5 year old even though she was giving shifty sideways glances.
When we got to the school playground I was given all their belongings (Sherpa stylee) so they could go and play before the bell. Cue strange beeping noises again. This time I knew I’d heard it.
I looked in the 4 year old’s lunch bag – nothing. Both children’s coat pockets – nope. The 5 year old’s book bag? … BINGO.
My darling daughter was trying to smuggle a Go-Go Hamster into school.
I called her over and asked her what was in her book bag. To my amazement she looked me in the eye and told me it was ‘Bring a Pet to School Day’.
I asked her if her teacher would verify this tall tale.
No, it appears not … which is why I spent most of the day telling my colleagues that I was sorry about the beeping, whistling and other noises coming from the hamster in my handbag.
Turns out it was ‘Bring a pet to work day’.

I belive the go go has now had its day.
LMAO!!!!!!!! That was funny!
That was some sharp thinking, will stand her in good stead
Also I think you need to formulate a new rules laminate for go go hamster..
Ha ha
we’ve got Go Go hamsters too…. Have you seen they’ve just brought out a Go Go bunny especially for Easter?
Guess what’s on my little girls wish list now lol
You must have been impressed with her comeback lady. Me thinks she is as quick as her Mummy.
Haven’t encountered go go hamsters yet (well, where would we buy them,no shops here!), have had the curse of tamagochi (sp),thankfully they got sick of them fast and let them die………..things that can be killed with a hammer, all my children believe that Barney the dinosaur died when he accidentally fell in the crusher part of a rubbish truck – well the videos somehow ‘fell’ in there – god i hated that purple thing!
My daughter has a Nintendog. I’ve had the pleasure of looking after it when she’s gone on sleepovers and for a week’s school trip. At least it doesn’t make noise during the day and I only forgot to feed it a few times!
Oh that’s funny! And how did the hamster like spending the day at work?! Don’t answer that!
Sounds much like those flibbin Tamagotchi things of my own children’s childhood. I was left one when #2 went on a school trip and had to keep it alive the whole week. The pressure. It was worse than having real kids.
Ha ha! Go Go hamsters – freaky little things! Loved that she tried to pull the wool over your eyes with her excuse though…she thought about that one!
We’ve just given daughter Dotty, the puppy. She barks, she wags her tail, she munches on bones. Thankfully she’s too big to fit in a book bag. And she can be switched off.
I will list this under, “Problems You Can Solve With A Big Enough Hammer” in my new “Parental Skillz” folder. Thanks.
We too have been infected by the Go Go Virus which so far luckily has remained in No.2 daughters bedroom. Much more serious was the virulent Tamagotchi strain which actually involved me taking it on a shopping day to Reading (on my own) before realising there was a pause button. its dead now – good riddance.
There was a pause button on Tamagotchis? Why did I not know that at the time?!
