Last year the 4 year old had grommets fitted. After months of ear infections, glue ear and intermittent deafness it was life changing.
Finally my partially deaf boy could hear. He started to come out of himself … talk more. His sister stopped talking for him and his speech became clearer.
Unfortunately his grommets fell out of the little hole in his ear drum into his ear canal a couple of months ago.
Everyone noticed immediately that he couldn’t hear properly again. Because we noticed straight away we have been over compensating, talking loudly, and making sure we have his full attention when we are speaking to him. His speech has started to suffer again though, it’s frustrating for him and us.
He had his long awaited hearing test this week at the hospital which confirmed what we already knew. His ears are full of fluid again and he’s now back on the waiting list for another set of grommets.
Fingers crossed he gets seen soon (apparently within 2 months) and that they stay in this time.
I have to credit The Teenager with this lovely shot of the 4 year old. She is a budding photographer and very good at it too.

What a lovely photo. She IS talented. Hope it gets sorted out soon.
oh no, poor guy! Fingers crossed for you.
Hang in there Batman!
I get SOOO angry about medical waiting lists in the UK. My nephew had to wait for about six months to get allergy tests… when he was three months old. It’s all so criminal. She ended up getting the tests in Belgium, for very little money.
I hope you don’t have to wait too long.
Bless his heart. I do know a few mums now who have this maddening situation. Fingers crossed he gets them soon xxx
Poor little man, all bits crossed he’s bumped up the queue in no time.
Also, fab shot, big thumbs up to The Teenager…

I had grommets three times when I was a child. It’s a wonder my mother did not go loopy over it. Waiting lists were much longer then too. I now have excellent hearing, as my 3 girls will tell you, I can hear them getting up to mischief from downstairs even with them whispering and their doors shut.
Hugs to you and 4yo. Such an ordeal for the poor cherub. Hope all goes speedily and smoothly. xx
Bless him, fingers crossed he gets sorted soon.
