Dear Gramps
We went to Edinburgh on Monday and saw loads of funny street performers. One performer jumped over a 6’3″ man in a pair of swimming trunks, he called it the Leap of Death. He said not to ‘try it at home’ but I could see the 5 year old taking notes. There was stuff going on everywhere! We eagerly awaited the 1 o clock gun near the castle, only to be disappointed. It doesn’t go off on Sunday.
We went to the joke shop that you took Mum to when she was a little girl. She says it’s her “favourite joke shop in the whole world”. We bought a dead finger, just like she did. We’ve enjoyed leaving it laying around in restaurants and shops.
The place where we’re staying has a hot tub which is great. It’s really hot so we’re not allowed in it for too long. The 5 year old keeps practising his underwater swimming.
Yesterday we went to North Berwick. The sun shone and we played in the sea, caught fish, shook a lobster’s claw, ate ice cream, collected shells and tried to fly a kite. The kite was rubbish and nearly hit several people on the beach.
Later we went on a boat trip round the Bass Rock to see the Gannets. The captain said it would be a bit choppy, little did we realise that when we got to the Bass Rock we’d nearly lose the 5 year old over the side. There were more than 150,000 birds and Mummy didn’t dare open her mouth in case one of the birds pooed in it. It was awsome though! On the way back we got soaked by the waves.
Wish you were here

A lovely blog, with great pictures. You have really captured what seems like a lovely holiday. I could have been there with you (though i would have been sea sick whilst watching the birds!).

I had many *actual lol* moments whilst reading this post. Thanks for that.
I am now off to search for a replica dead finger. It sounds like you’ve had a lot of fun with that
The dead finger is bloody brilliant
